About Kobus & Karen Theron:

Apostle Kobus Theron has been a fulltime minister of God for over thirty years, with his wife, Karen, always by his side. They have two children who are both married, and are the proud grandparents of 4 beautiful grandchildren. They currently live in Durbanville,Cape Town, South Africa.After receiving clear instruction from God just over 3 years ago, Kobus and Karen wereclear on the assignment God gave them, to start the GK1 church and movement wherethe vision is to establish a thousand-plus successful GK1 churches, each consisting of a thousand-plus successful and happy GK1 people.

Background:

Over the last 35 years, Kobus has played a distinct and pioneering role in helping to produce many successful and happy Kingdom disciples, families, churches, businessand other types of secular organisations.During these years he also fulfilled various ministry leadership roles, such as youth pastor, senior pastor of a local church and managing director of a life coaching company. Kobus regularly features on Radio Tygerberg and various other radio stations, where he has a programme, named "More than conquerors". He also regularly appears on Kruiskyk TV and on other national TV programs. He is widely recognised as a Kingdom Culture specialist and recently released his first book on the subject, The Kingdom Way of Life. Currently he is the visionary leader and Apostle of the GK1 church working with Karen and a team of Kingdom builders. His wife, Karen is a director in the organisation and part of her portfolio is heading up the admin and finance departments.

Qualifications:

After he matriculated and completed his two years of national service, he studied and completed a three-year diploma in theology at the Theological College of South Africa.He was ordained as a Fulltime Minister of God, in November 1986, by the Lighthouse Church Ministry Team. He was also officially acknowledged in November 2014 as an apostle (apostolic minister of God), by the Lighthouse Church. He holds an internationally recognised Doctorate degree in Ministry from the Divinity College Consortium, affiliated to Ballsbridge University.

About Chester & Desiré Wright:

Chester Wright has been involved in the ministry for over twenty-five years. He is married to Desiré and has two grown-up sons, one of whom is married. Chester’s sons live in Port Elizabeth, and Chester and Desiré have recently moved to Cape Town. In April 2021, when the inaugural meeting of GK1 Church was held, Chester and Desiré had a strong word and prophetic confirmation to join Kobus Theron and GK1 Church.

Chester has been involved in many areas of ministry over the last thirty years. He started as a youth leader and ministered in East London. In the early 1990s, Chester was part of Kobus Theron’s team in a church in Durbanville. In following God’s leading, Chester and Desiré returned to Port Elizabeth with a passion and a desire to see the Kingdom established and true disciples emerge. Chester joined an Apostle and helped build and develop Kingdom Life Ministries in Port Elizabeth. Chester functioned as a minister and a prophet and was responsible for the teaching arm of the church. He has also actively been involved in Kingdom Financing and Corporate Consulting and Training for over twenty years. Desiré has flowed in the prophetic for the last 20 years, in the ministry, and by the Spirit, in her Gallery and Framing business. She is also very creative and, as an artist, draws her inspiration and ability from the Holy Spirit.

In March 2022, Chester was ordained into full-time ministry at GK1 Church, with Chester receiving the mandate from God to be the Principal of the newly established GK1 Bible School. With Kobus Theron, Chester and the team are equipping people and ministers to become mature disciples (followers) of Christ who are successful and happy in every area of their lives.

About David and Cornel Scullard:

Pastor David Scullard has been in ministry for the past 20 years, with his wife, Cornel, a teacher and ordained Pastor, always faithfully supporting him and the various ministries and churches where they served together. They have been happily married for over 18 years and have a beautiful daughter, Simoné. They live in Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa. After receiving a Word from God that was confirmed supernaturally many times, they joined GK1 Church.

David served in the SA Defence Force as a Lieutenant where after he worked in the Financial Sector in London and Edinburgh in the UK and in Cape Town, South Africa. After acquiring various business, management and leadership qualifications he officially enrolled at the Maxima Academy to start his ministry and coaching studies in 2003. He was officially ordained as a Minister and Life Coach in 2007 after a 5-year In-service Training Programme. He served as Life Coach and Minister at Maxima Training & Consulting from 2003-2011, as Senior Associate Pastor at Kingdom Church from 2012-2018 and as Senior Pastor at Powerhouse International Ministries from 2019- 2022. David also serves as a Personal Development Coach at various businesses as part of his marketplace ministry. He holds a Master’s degree in Ministry and a Doctorate in Counselling.

Cornel, a qualified and full-time teacher and HOD, also completed her ministry and coaching studies at Maxima Academy and is an ordained Pastor and Life Coach. Cornel served as the Children’s Church Leader for 5 years at Kingdom Church as well as Woman’s Ministry Leader at Kingdom Church and Powerhouse International Ministries. She holds a Master’s degree in Ministry with her teaching and coaching qualifications. David and Cornel are both passionate about teaching God’s Word and helping all people through pastoral care, counselling and prayer. They are also passionate about establishing Life Groups (church small groups) where people can experience and encounter God and experience a loving and caring church family.
